Summary of Problem

In the girl’s dormitory of Wide Horizons, the students faced unsafe sleep. The causes of this problem are not enough space, insects come and stay under the student’s mats and materials, and also students sleep on cement floor. This effect to physical and mental health problems to girl students at WH girl’s dormitory. We have found that building bed frame is the best solution to solve this problem.

Students who live in girl’s dormitory of Wide Horizons (WH) have faced unsafe to sleep. The causes of this problems are the dormitory is narrow, students sleep on the cement floor, cement floor and ground are almost the same level. And also, there is not enough space to divide materials and beds, and no bed frame and stand to keep materials for each student. From our survey, the girl students and one staff of WH from girl’s dormitory said, the insects which are scorpion, millipede, centipede and ants come and stay under the student’s

mats and materials.

The issue of unsafe sleep at girl’s dormitory affected to student’s health problem and lesson. According to our survey result, the millipede crossed one of the girl student’s face and one girl faced millipede on her body during sleeping. According to WH girl’s student, Eh Gay Wah said, “I think, it is a small snake or what is under my shirt at mid-night, I feel scared and I take it out. I don’t know it bites me or not, but the small spot is still left on my hand for three days”. Therefore, all of the girls are still worrying for their safety during sleeping and

some girls cannot concentrate on their lesson when they study at dormitory because the space is narrow. After that, 11 girls felt muscle pain, 7 girls felt headache and 4 girls often got runny nose because the students slept on the cold cement floor.

Project (Solution)

According to our experience and the survey of WH’s students, building bed frame is the best solution to solve this problems. We will build 6 two-floor (bunk) bed frames for 12 WH girl’s dormitory students and 1 one-floor bed frame for 1 WH’s staff. Due to our measuring, the two-floor (bunk) bed frame will save the girls dormitory space around 100 feet from total 360 feet. We choose this solution because it can solve the insufficient space problem, health problem causing by sleeping on the cement floor and the students will be less worry for insects coming problems and reduce problems when the students sleep.

All in all, unsafe sleep is a serious problem that affected to student’s health problem and their lesson but it can be solved by building bed frames. As the result, the students and staff at WH girl’s dormitory will have enough space to sleep and to keep their materials, will face less health problems that causes by sleeping on cement floor and insect’s problem. Moreover, the students will be able to sleep and study comfortable at dormitory.
